Default Backseat Removal

How do you properly remove the backseat on a 2001 XJ8 VDP?

Remove both left and right rear heel kick panels, seat bottom is retained by two torx head bolts that will be evident. Do you also wish to remove the seat back? A bit more work, but not too hard.

Hello. I need to remove the rear seat on my 98 VDP. I have removed the seat cushion and now I am trying to remove the seat back. I removed 4 screws along the bottom of the seat back and I was thinking that I just needed to lift the seat back and pull out but it is being stubborn. Before I break something important, I was wondering if anyone out there knows if there is something else I need to do.

Belay that request. I was trying to route a wire from my (hacked) CD player from the trunk into the cabin. I was able to do it without removing rear seat back.

I hacked into my CD changer to hook up my IPOD a few weeks ago and had been wanting to get the wire hidden since then. Just now found the time. I used a post by SARC - titled "Best way to route a wire from boot/trunk to centre console cubby box." He describes coming in through the right side of the trunk.

As described, I removed the felt lining in the trunk and then threaded a coat hanger between the trim pieces on the right side B pillar where it meets the rear deck under the back window on the inside. Then I used some electrical tape to secure the end of my wire to the coat hanger and pulled it back through to into the cabin. I used a screw driver to gently pry the trim pieces apart a half inch or so to make this process easier.

Snaking the coat hanger through took some fiddling around - it came through small vent on the inside of the trunk. Small plastic piece right under the pillar.
