All I can say is "It's Good
To Be Bad". And the rest can eat their hearts out! Or they can buy a Jag! The choice is theirs.

bad people? possibly......while i am deep into jags...i am equally passionate about film.....if you have an opportunity...check out woody allen's "match Point"about 2003/2004....made/filmed in England....the cast is mostly British....the main protagonist is a cad, despicable in every respect .He maneuvers himself into a well to do family, marries the bosses' daughter while having an affair with his brother-in-laws' girlfriend played by Scarlett Johansen.

He continues the affair, promises to marry her (she is pregnant at this point),but at the last moment decides he is not able to give up the plush life style he has now become accustom to.So what does he do? He murders Scarlett (and by implication the unborn child) and a poor little old lady who gets caught up in this murderous web of deceit in an effort to cover up the crime and keep the police off his trail. And in the end he gets away with it.

While this is another of Allen's morality films (like his "Crimes and Misdemeanors")........the point he is making is that we are all capable of such treacherous mis-deeds including murder(given the circumstances we are in) and the irony is that we can escape the law but not our conscious.
In the film the car this scoundrel drives is a xj8..looks to be a platinum 2002 or 2003 vandenplas suggesting even bad people have good taste!

The worst thing I have ever had said to me about the car is that "OLD" people drive Jags.

I love the way the car handles and performs. I just don't like the repair bills, but I guess since it is paid for I shouldn't complain too much. At least I'm not repairing a car that I don't own.

Pingj, I drove jags when I was young, and I drive one now I am old, and there are very few young ones who can stay with me on a twisty road.

My son's buddies have a theory that I'm a reality James Bond lol my line of work probably adds a lot to it. I did diplomatic security abroad after service & have relics from that era around the house.

Jaguar didn’t really come up as a brand for respectable and modest individuals. The average Mk2 driver either cheated on his wife or robbed banks. They sort of had to hijack Daimler brand to appeal to normal people.

hi everyone also in Italy the Jaguars are for bad kids or for old people and I noticed that in the tv series they often put the bad guy on Jaguar german tv series, I often get stopped for police checks if they are young and to see Xj8 if I'm ahead of the years they give me a complete check as long as I was a bad boy. it happened to me in the second half of the 80s when I was driving aDS21

The first was last week when I pulled up I'm my s type-- silver 2007, mind you. Nice little simple car. I get out and see two 20-something's look at me, and then one says to the other, "probably a drug dealer or something..." I thought they were crazy and went on my way. Then, JUST TODAY I'm driving around in the same jag, get out if the car and a lady next to me in the grocery store parking lot says, "nice car, but we don't want any trouble."
?!?!?! WHAT?! I'm the nicest guy. Look like your average 40-something. Minding my own business. My silver s type us just a normal s-type! Not souped up, nothing fancy, no bling-- just a regular silver jag.
I was talking to some friends today and they too, said that people who drive jags are RICH and are known for being "in the mob." ?!?!? Are they SERIOUS?? That is the most IDIOTIC thing I've ever heard!
Where does this "bad boy" reputation come from with jaguars?? My other jag is a 2003 super v8-- if they would've seen me climb outta THAT I would've had the cops called on me FOR SURE!!
Is it TV that's giving this image of sketchiness? Hollywood? Am I just living in a strange place? (Utah-- gotta be it!) or is this a normal reaction for others?? It's mostly the 20-something's I hear this from......your thoughts??

There is an import salesman from Florida ( Bill from Naples) ( probably formerly of Jersey) that sells and advertises a lot of Jags on You tube. Several of his XJR sales videos always refer to the XJR as an international gangster car with comments about poor interior storage places for " your 9 mil" But the trunk makes up for it with lots of space for bagged bodies. lol Such things seem to be a consistent sales point in his videos. He's Very Funny.

As someone who lives in Youngstown , OH ..... I must first go on record to say a quote for legal and fraternal reasons ( There is no such thing as "The Mob" , " Mafia" or any other such criminal organization , it simply doesn't exist) Now that that's out of the way . LOL

I too am a mild mannered , middle aged businessman, father , and Jag owner . Due to the location and regional associations with General Motors the vehicle of choice here has always been Cadillac. They are everywhere here. I've had a few . If you are Italian American here , its almost the law you drive one . LOL

However , a select few local businessmen with somewhat more refined tastes have discovered and graduated to the Big Body Jags. They make a statement few cars are capable of. They leave the novices in wonderment , and the haters something to hate. They are the ultimate in sophisticated , indulgent luxury and performance. There is nothing subtle about them. Even though my own EGO is pretty low maintenance , and I'm not needy for validation I will freely admit the pleasure I get from stares and whispers when I exit my Black XJR wearing a dark suit , my signature black fedora , and dark glasses.

But truth be told , my biggest pleasure in my Jags is just driving them . They are a drivers car. The fact that they have an urban folklore of nefarious , shadowy, or pretentious wealthy owners , well that just makes it more fun. The final but most significant bonus..... My total investment in 3 low mileage excellent condition Jags ( 2 XJRs 98 and 99 and a 09 VDP ) is less than a brand new Honda Civic .

It also doesn't help when people do this.
