A call at the BBS headquarter Germany (btw very friendly and supportive guys!) gave me the lead for the best color match, they said VW L88Z.
I tought easy going, lets do this... the guy who should do the job gave me a call, 1200,- € just for the VW L88Z paint, without labor...
So we switched over to use A56 Chrome Shadow, its also used on BMW E39 M5 wheels, but with some more layers to brighten up the color.

If somebody wants to see the results just let me know.

Hello Maxi, thanks! I'm very interested in seeing your results. Infact thanks for all the input on this thread. I have bought a set of second hand XJR-100 alloys and they need refurbishing. So I'm watching this thread. Where can I get the stainless outer rim protectors?

What do these wheels normally sell for? Tried to buy a set last week, but guy wanted 3 grand usd for them. I mean my vette wheels are 3 piece forged aluminum, very wide. And even they(fikse fm5) bring 4k a set new. So I wouldn't expect the Montreals to go that high. Are the centers on the BBS Montreals aluminum?

A year later....
But i said i show you something and there it is.

This is my second set of Montreal's but this time 19" set including spare wheel.

The paint was completly removed and then new built from the scratch, not just a overspray.

Those turned out fantastic! I’m jealous that mine doesn’t have that same chrome undertone like yours does. I was very limited on options and had to go with a local company that only would do it one color of BMW silver. They turned out very nice but not as nice as yours.

I bought a set of 4 from rimworx_uk on ebay. Worked out great and should be half the cost of the BBS ones.

So is this with the A56 Chrome Shadow paint?
Also, does anyone what size the wheel bolts are?

The bolts take an M8 spline tool for the outer rim.

The bolts are an ( M8 12 spline head ) with an M7 thread which is 24.5mm long. I'm currently in the process of refurbishing mine and these bolts are about £3.00 each on E-bay but I have managed to find them for half that price on Alibaba.

No need to buy them if your's aren't damaged. They clean up easily-just need to be patient. I bought new ones, only cause I wanted gold plated bolts.

I used my old ones. Soaked them in acetone to soften the loctite and used a wire brush and wire wheel to remove it and polish the heads. Never did get all the loctite off, but got enough to not have any issues,...

Default Trim Rings

Found replacement trim rings for about $400 for the set of 4 including shipping from the UK, so I was happy about that.

Powder Coat was $425 out the door for all 4. Finish looks flawless, but color is basic and it's glossy instead of shiny.

The pictures show one of the original and one of the refinished.

Thanks Steve for the recommendation however, I'm looking to have this done locally.

where did you find the trim rings?

Several years ago I got my trim rings from SBWHEELS.CO.UK. I haven’t been on their site in awhile but, if you don’t see any on there, email Steve through his site about the 19” trim rings.

I purchased them from rimworx_uk on eBay back in 2017. Looks like he's no longer on eBay though. His name was James and he was located in Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom. I tried sending him an email, but if it's going through eBay he may not get it,...
