Default Bonehead Move: Door Latch Wont Close

So after correcting a stuck driver door lock -- by inserting a key in the exterior key hole ... viola, all returned to normal -- I was thinking of lubing the sprocket-like latch when it, ARGHHHHH, rotated it up and hear a click.

Now the door wont close.

Can I get lock sprocket back to open WITHOUT taking the interior door panel out? A screw driver and an educated push, maybe?

All ideas welcome!

Thanks!

Rotate it back into place while the door handle is pulled.
It happened to me once too.

I do this all the time to simulate a CLOSED DOOR for access to the interior with the door OPEN.(I thought everyone did this?)

Well Bob, there are many different levels of repair experience represented here That is why
sometimes things you take for granted are being asked in earnest.

Yeah, after doing it the first time I realized how I could use it. I had to use it the identify my intermittent door switch failure which was turning on my alarm in the middle of the night . I ended up just cutting the wires because I didn't have time to source a microswitch. Does anyone have a link to where I can buy one?

I suggest your best bet is a salvage yard. Nobody seems to carry these.

Default salvage yard

Unfortunately, Coventry West in Georgia closed at the end of the August. It would have been a good source for used parts. I used them many times. Anyone know of a another good source?

Hmmmm....seems inflation has really caught on. I remember when I could go to
my salvage yard and pick up a whole door for $40.
