Bonnett release lever.
How to access for inspection and replacement.
Left side will not release.
Drilled fender well. Cable appears to be loose, ball out of groove, I placed it back in groove but it is very loose. Grommet still there.
Can not get lower dash trim loose.
Strange fastners with tiny hole in the center.
Help

If you can see the cable and ball end you will be able to release the latch through that same access point. You do NOT have to take the dash apart! Sitting above that cable is the catch piece of the assembly that slides and then releases, or locks, the post on the hood. I used a 14" flat head screwdriver, pointing towards the rear of the vehicle, to get just above the cable, and then give it a quick "pop". You will have to get a feel for the correct spot - there is the part of the assembly that does not move - and I would not beat on the end of the screwdriver trying to force it. It will happen with minimal effort, or you have the wrong spot. Sometimes it does help to have someone else push down on the hood slightly to relieve some of the pressure the hood has from being latched or closed. Obviously this hinders your ability to tell when you have the correct spot, but you should be able to feel the piece move so your help can let the hood come up. Sorry, I don't have the pics from the time I had to do this, and then rebuilt the assembly so the cable would stay put. I also NEVER let my hood slam down anymore. I gently set it down, push one side down to lock it, and then walk around the vehicle and do the same on the other side. Good luck!

Thanx
I am looking at the cable / grommet / fork assy from below it and can not see over it.
I have tried pushing on the fork assy but can not move it.
Perhaps I need to move up about 3 inches and drill another 1" hole.
Do you have any idea what those fastners are in the dash.
Some are torx screws, others appear to be some kind round head screw with a teeny tiny hole in the center. Has me baffled, trying to pull the "coin" box out to access trip lever for removal and inspection.
