boot lid open
I read that thread, too. It might have been S-Type. Nevertheless, there would be some switch or micro switch, either somewhere in the boot area or even maybe in the locking mechanism, which detects, if the boot (trunk) is open or closed. Where this switch is may vary from model to model. I hope you find it.

If it's not the switch the wiring harness where it bends with every trunk open/close cycle can also be your problem.

arriving in Walvisbay for the pick up of my beloved Jag im faced with the theft of the trunk computerbox (a blue 32 pin connecter dangling in the open) must have been the guy who drove it from the vessel(the trunk fuse box was without lid!!) Does anybody know an affordable sourse? VIN SAJAC13L91KF22949
Was that the reason for your initial problem that someone stole a module from you car?
I assume that "computerbox in the trunk" means "Security & locking module"? That module, which is located next to the battery under the trunk-fusebox? If though, the guy who stole it would have had a lot of time to take your car apart...
SAJAC13L91KF22949 does not look like a X308 VIN number... The 4th letter would be a J or D. From there on it is all funny... SAJ is right. But ...AC13L91K...... are all identifiers, which do not seem to be allocated / i.e. not possible, assuming it is a X308. This question might sound silly, but justified: Did someone steal your VIN number (before you bought the car)? A "rebirthed" car? Sounds plausible in a country, where they steal a security module...
What Jag exactly do you have? (Type / year)

Hi Peter , no the initial problem I had before I shipped the car to Nambia. it was driven from the Vessel upon the arrival normally. The VIN number is according to the british registration documents. I havnt verified with the numbers on the car. iits a september 2000 XJ8 3.2l
I looked now at other VIN tables. I still cannot make a lot of sense of your VIN number, but at least O know that:
SAJ stand for Jaguar, as always.
4th digit A stands for Africa.
10th digit "1" stands for model year 2001 (not 2000).

You have not confirmed, if the module missing is the module under the fuse box in the trunk...
If so, you need the security and locking module LNG2600JB.
You may find it somewhere on the internet or on ebay. Used of course.
And hey: maybe you find on the internet your exact module, which was stolen from you, for sale...
And when you have the new module you have to reprogram your fob-remotes and your transponder. Both should be easy for you to do yourself, IF your have BOTH ORIGINAL tibbe-keys for that car.

@ ErZam: Did you read my posts above?
Nobody in the world will have a "computer box" for a Jaguar.
I asked you twice before to confirm, if the "BOX" you are talking about is in fact the "security and locking module", which would be located under the fuse box in the trunk - or in your case: No longer located under the fuse box in the trunk... Can you confirm this? Is this the "BOX" we are talking about?
If yes, then I answered your question already: PART NUMBER: LNG2600JB.

Hello Erzam...I used to have this happen on
the odd occasion and found a slight judicious adjustment
of said latch fixed the problem.
Not in the lid, the locking 'u' that it latches to.
I never slam a boot lid! ...just gently press on it to get that satisfying 'click' ;o))
We don't have corrosion problems her like alot of places but I use a spray electronic cleaner/ lubricant in the switch mechanism and the switch itself occassionally.

For some strange reason my membership is listed as May 2019 when in actual fact, I have been a member since 2007...any ideas?
Perhaps there has been a re shuffle of the forum at some stage?

Sorry im too busy screening the market. From what I can see the box must have been in a side opening of the fuse box. there is only one loose 32 pin connector there which would be too short to reach under the box. the one you are proposing has several connetors and doesnt seam correct.
There is no blue 32 pin connector in the boot fuse/relay box. There are no "computers" in the side "openings" of the fuse box. The openings look like compartments for something but they are empty. There is only one "computer" there and it is at the bottom of the fuse box. When you take a break from screening the market, take a picture of what you are referring to and post it here.
