Check that each piston reaches TDC, because if a piston hits a valve it can also cause the con-rod to bend slightly as well as leaving marks on the piston.
This happened to me on an old BMW years ago. I had the head off to replace a couple of bent valves, but noticed that as I rotated the crankshaft to bring each piston to TDC for decoking, that the front piston was not reaching the same height as the others & was down by about a couple of mm-as well as looking like it was not sitting centrally in the bore.
Sure enough, after dropping the sump & removing the piston & rod from the top of the block, the con-rod was bent in a very slight dog-leg pattern.

Agreed- check with a depth gauge after you pull the heads.
