Exclamation Brake Help needed.

Hi, I need info for 2004 XJ8, with60+k. The brakes are not feeling as positive as they have in the past and it feels less safe in emergency stops. I know the front pads need replaced and the rotors have grooves/ridges worn into them no metal on metal, just wear.
Can you recommend pads and rotors that would improve this? It isn't raced, possibly a bit of sporty driving, but not much. I just want to increase brake feel and lessen stopping distance.
The pedal feels soft with a much softer feel than my friend's 06 BMW 750i, so I plan on getting the brake fluid flushed. Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Yesterday I had to do an emergency stop and it felt like I was pushing on the pedal, but it took a full second for it to feel like it was positively responding. There seemed to be pressure pushing up on the pedal, but it didn't feel like it wanted to stop. Panicked for a bit....
Unfortunately I am work so I don't have time to do a very in depth search, so I apologize in advance if this has been addressed.

Try Mintex pads with regular rotors.
There may be a leak in the system allowing air in and hence the mushy feel. Jaguar brakes though are softer in feel but just as strong as other makes.

(BRUTAL listens intently for the sound of propane torches igniting)
EBC Red Stuff all day, used on my Jag, Nissan truck, and every other Jag I know for friends, Na's and R's. NO complaints, night and day difference in braking, and are even better in panic braking without fade.
If you had a leak, you would have a low brake fluid light on by now. 1200psi pushes alot of fluid out quickly
