Hello fellow Jaguar enthusiasts,

I have owned a 2001 XJR for the past three years. She has had some wobbly play from the front end while braking and at the speed of 50-55 mph.

When I purchased new tires last year, I had the front end checked out and it appears to be fine but my rotors need replacement. Several friends of mine recommended just getting them resurfaced with a brake lathe. I contacted companies in my area inquiring about that work, they all declined and said they recommended replacing the rotors instead. I figured I would purchase new front and rear rotors and while doing that, I would also have the front and rear disc brake pads replaced as well. I went to the auto part store to order these parts and they asked me if my XJR had the performance package....Is there an easy way to verify whether or not my car has this? What about the braking system is different in the performance package? How are the parts different and are they interchangeable?

 

Sure, do your calipers look like these, if not, it's stock.

 

The fool proof way to see what you have is to measure the Dia of the front and rear rotors then cross reference them.

 

Speakin of Brembos, where is the best place to get the replacement pads and is there a part number for them, front and back? Thanks!

 

the R1 spec package also came with stainless brake lines...i just ordered new routers and pads for 2001 XJR with the R1 package from www.britishparts.co.uk even with shipping it is cheaper than buying the US
