Default CEL but Scanner Will Not Connect

This has happened a couple times recently. I have a CEL but when I attach the scanner it doesn't establish contact and no codes read back.

Ideas?.

Try another scanner to see if the problem is with your scanner or with the car’s canbus/electrical system.

This may be a silly question, but in what position is the key? Mine only works in on position or with the car running.

Do you have aftermarket stereo or alarm system components installed? Those will often interfere with scan tools.

I have replaced the speakers only in the front doors. All else is original.

Were you able to resolve this? I recently purchased my first Jaguar an 02 VDP with 46,000 miles and also had this issue. It was a fuse in the passenger rear footwell fuse area. Sends power to the OBDII port. Check your owners manual for exact fuse number, I don’t recall off hand. Good luck!

Yes, a third scanner worked with the engine off. I had checked the fuses. I think there are two for the Jag Diagnostic System and one for the engine control unit. All fuses were fine.

Good luck to you.

Would you mind sharing which scanner worked (and which ones didn't)? Thanks...

Amazon Amazon

i bought this cheap WiFi OBDII dongle and it works fine. Works for iOS with WiFi where most Android ones are Bluetooth. I purchased OBD Fusion for $10 and it works to diagnose and clear codes
