Default change shift position without instrument cluster

Hey Everyone,

I've been pulling some parts of my 98 vanden plas and storing the parts for use with my XJ8 when needed. Anyway, I pulled the instrument cluster and now I'm unable to shift into another position. Put the cluster back in, and all works fine. Engine starts fine without it. Is there a way to bypass this logic? I'd like to store the cluster, but leave the car in Park until I remove the Transmission.

Thanks!

Remove the plastic torx screw on your J gate, stick a small screwdriver down there and it will manually release the car out of park.......

As you fell the stick release pull the screwdriver out
