Changing transmission fluid

I just had a shock when pricing Jaguar A/T fluid for our '03 XJR. Parts man admitted it was unreasonably high and suggested looking at Redline.

The recommended Redline fluid is D4 ATF......is anyone familiar with this? I can buy enough for the complete change for roughly the price of one quart from Jaguar.

Also, can anyone give me a location to buy appropriate oil for the SC?

You have the W5A580 (AKA 5G Tronic, 722.6) Mercedes Gearbox.

Use the recommended Mercedes fluid. It is not hard to find and is not THAT pricey.

Bob is right, the MB fluid is not expensive, relatively speaking... cheaper than if you had a ZF transmission. For what it’s worth though, I used the following in mine about a year ago.
