Check engine light

I have 2001 XJ8,and am plagued by a check engine light The readout is code P0174. I have given the Jag a tuneup, and changed one of the oxygen sensors. I also added fuel injector cleaner. I am three hours from the nearest Jag dealer does anyone have any ideas of where I should start next with a local mechanic?
I would first try getting a can of Mass Air Flow cleaner from the autoparts store and clean the sensor by removing the MAF from the car and hosing the sensor down well then letting it dry and reinstall.. Also check for vacuum leaks such as a cracked or split plastic or rubber hose.. Inspect the hoses anywhere where they connect to a barb or fitting for cracks.. Then reset the CEL and see if it come back and we'll go from there..
you can try cleaning the Mass air flow sensor, but check the bottom of that large intake tube in the bellows area for plastic deterioration over the exhaust. But barring that, mass air flow sesnor on you car is the most likely. If no leaks, and cleaning doesnt fix buy another, its only 2 screws and an electrical clip to replace
check for air leaks, the brake booster hose conector that is bellow the pass side bellow the throttle is a common air leak, then check the part load brather it on the ndrivers side cam cover,or any other air leaks, and try cleaning the air mass meter
