Check engine light... New codes
P1316
p1111
p0301
p0172
I'm at my wits ****ing end with this restricted performance issue coming up randomly.

1111 - 'nothing to see here' code...
0172 - A (1) bank too rich
0301 - misfire, cylinder A1(1)
1316 - misfire excess, linked to your number one cylinder missfiring, and there's a whole list of things that could be checked there,
compression,
worn/broke valve spring,
blocked or leaking injector or open,
sparkplug failure or gap incorrect,
ECM to ignition module primary circuit fault (misfire detected DTC flagged)
ignition module ground circuit, high resistance,
ignition module/coil failure....
Take your pick!
Swap a coil and see if the misfire moves with it. I'll stick my neck out and suggest it's probably a dying coil pack on number 1 cylinder, because that's what the car's telling me.
Any other suggestions, I'm all ears

Dirty injector on one (maybe others). Run a bottle of Gumout's best (or Lucas' -- not a fan of STP's but they may be a sponsor?). Then check back.
This seemed to always clear up problems on RRS S/C 4.2 engines.

As someone noted a while back, once you have it all fixed, and you spent all your money, you still have an old car. The trouble with old cars, is that things break, a lot.
Time, water/rust and dirt are the enemy, Patience, money, and love of the the vehicle are the solution. As someone else noted a while back, these cars were made for rich people. They were meant to be kept a couple of years and then traded for new ones. Not to be rebuilt by fans.

For what its worth I had an intermitently bad coil - the codes associated with coil failure are usually P035x, where x refers to a specific cylinder from 1 to 8, (if cylinder #1 the code would be P0351 - "coil A .... circuit malfunction", although i also got the P1316 code. I confirmed the fault by swapping coils and comparing the resulting codes.
Since you are not getting the P0351 I would maybe swap a plug first, then maybe an injector and see what the DTC throws up. The plug may smell of fuel if theres an ignition fault on #1 cylinder.
Time consuming and frustrating it certainly is....

Money isnt the issue. I've had this car for 7 years.. my issue is nagging problems piling up and not getting resolved. This check engine light and restricted performance is a nasty one...
Changed the spark plug and cleaned the coil and put injector cleaner in the tank... nothing so far... going to check codes again, then swap the coil for another one and then confirm its the coil.

the no start issue is still eluding me. I'm thinking its something to do with the remote alarm system.
I do have a slight rattle now on WOT from the intake, so I need to chase that down. Lots of work going into it this weekend.... new control arm bushings, shocks(KYB.. any thoughts on those?), sway bar bushings and ball joints. Eventually I'll have it running sufficiently enough to get the twin screw.

Hello Prince, been viewing some of your posts and learning what I can...thank you. A side question...how do you clear the codes after making a repair/change? Is this something I can do myself? Mine is a 2003 X-Type w/2.5 motor. Thanks again.
