Ran the free vehiclehistory which only showed registration information and basic car vin decode info, there was zero dealer/Jag info in it.

It looks as though you will need to locate the engine number in order to determine what you actually have.

Got the gasket kit yesterday and installed the right side today. Bit of a job getting it all in there, but its done and so far after a couple short drives, no obvious leaks. I had a bit of an oil smell that I traced back to a bit evaporating off the back of the head, I torqued all of the bolts down to 80 in/lb when I reinstalled, found a tiny weep of oil on the lower bolt on the back of the valve cover so I upped that one bolt to 95 in/lb and ran it for awhile in the driveway without any scent at all. I'll take it for a run tomorrow and see if it holds.

Haven't pulled the left front wheel yet to check the engine serial number. Too excited to drive the car now.

Did you already fix the shifter/trans issue? All good to go?

Did this gasket kit come with 28 new rubber washers that go under each bolt head? If not, that can be a reason why you had an oil leak as they apply pressure on the valve (cam) covers.

It did...it actually came with considerably more than 28. I have two separate bags of bolt gaskets, that appear identical but I used the ones out of only one bag. Made sure to count up the old ones before I discarded and counted out the new ones and put them in a pile before installing any so I wouldn't make a mistake. I initally was pleasantly surprised that all the cover bolts seemed to be captive bolts, I was thinking how nice of the designers to do that for us...then I realized it was the old gaskets holding them in. Dummy.

I ran it for awhile in the driveway last night, no oil smell. Going for a drive later this morning so we'll see if we get any further weeping or scent from the gasket today.
