Coincidence or…?
Given my current issue with the low coolant after A/C repair, I got to thinking about the several times I brought my XJ8 into a shop to have something fixed, only to have a mysterious, different problem occur.
Had dealer replace fuel pump …all my backlights on J-Gate no longer worked. Including Cruise & Sport mode backlights.
I recall I had looked up the fuses & one of the fuses was for both the J-Gate lights & the fuel pump! The Jag tech denied this was related to his repair.
I had driver door arm rest vinyl replaced by an upholstery shop & had 2 issues:
Picked up car & antenna was UP?! Would not go down. (There was no reason for them to have turned on radio, which raises antenna.) Ended up taking car to Dealer & replacing antenna at my expense.
All my back lights on the armrest controls stopped working. Door locks, windows, etc. This problem had to be caused by the shop removing that entire armrest in order to recover it.
Indie shop claimed I had a broken air filter housing mount and grommet. They were doing work that required them to remove this and replace it.
I had replaced my air filter several times previously and there was nothing broken.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
