Coolant leak and bore scopes
Trying to track down coolant loss. I lose about 20 ounces of coolant every 2 hours of driving. Never any coolant under car, no smoke out exhaust. I have had two different people help me look every place we can see.
the only place we can't see is the valley heater houses. I don't have time or garage to take off manifold to check. I don't want to pay someone without knowing more of that's the problem.
anyone ever try seeing if a bore scope can fit under the manifold and see images that reveal coolant leaks ?

On the octopus hose, there are 2 points of high failure rate. On the passenger side above the catalytic converter is a plastic bulky connector where it joins the rubber hose to a metal pipe. The plastic connector will split and start to leak coolant on top of the catalytic converter which will evaporate before it hits the ground.
Next up on the octopus hose is a plastic one way valve that’s located above the transmission. Over time it will split, leak coolant on top of the transmission and evaporate before it hits the ground.
There is a black plastic 3 way tee that connects to the driver’s side octopus hose and it to can fail.
Just keep in mind that you have a 26+ year old car. It is likely that all the hoses are in need of replacement.

Thanks for replies.
previous shop claims they pressure tested and discovered no leaks or drop in pressure.
the Jag losses about 20 ounces of coolant every 2 hours. I drive 1 hour each way, when I get back home I can poor a 20 ounce drinking bottle of coolant in to reach top. If you skip adding coolant the next trip it will give low coolant warning and you can see a small amount of steam at front of engine after pulling in driveway.

Ed, if it’s at the front of the engine, it could be a water pump, crossover pipe above the water pump, short hose connection at thermostat housing pipe and possibly a radiator albeit that’s relatively rare.
