Default coolant low warning

Fellow members,how are you

I know this is one of the issues we discuss the most here but I just ran out of my mind how to fix it

the coolant light is still on after I have checked all the potential leaks, I even have replaced a new level sensor but the warning message and red light is still on.

I really want to fix this issue myself before going to get robbed by the dealer

thank you for your information in advance

Its either one of two things...either the sensor is not installed correctly, or the connection/wiring to the ECU is at fault... First thing I would do is check the connector and its pins, both at the reservoir and on the wiring harness. Then, I'd find out if its simply a circuit being completed in the sensor to turn it off or on, then try to recreate it on the connector...trying to rule out the connector. If that works fine, replace the whole dang overflow reservoir, which comes with a new sensor and cap...$175 online.

good luck!

Have you done the finger trick?

Open the cap on the tank. Fish around with your finger until you find the float and flick it up until it slides freely up and down the sensor shaft. You want to free off the float so it bobs correctly.
I had this on a 2002 XJR, low coolant level, changed the little sensor that snaps in underneath, and still the same message. I drew off a little fluid in the tank so I could see the float and fingered it up and down until it was free to do it's job. Warning has gone.

Sean is right and I was going to tell you that you more than likely have a float stuck on the bottom. I would flush the cooling system with a good cleaner because the float tend to stick down more as the coolant gets old and gummy

My coolant light was flashing momentarily at me every now and then. I couldn't find any problems, but adding less than 1 cup of water to top it up ended up curing it.

Often-times we assume the worst or most complicated-costly solution,....when in fact more times than not, it turns out to be the simplest fix!
