Default Coolant Questions

Everyone,

Can I use Pentofrost SF in our standard V8 engines? Made by Pentosin in Germany.

Can I add it to what the mechanic put in a few months ago which seems more yellow-orange than pink?

Is it true that out of the factory delivered the cooling system had a pink colored coolant?

If I add a little Pentofrost SF cut with distilled water am I really risking radiator clogging and other disasters?

What do I add to the coolant inside now? Strictly orangey- yellow stuff? Any spec recommendations?

Thanks,

Pentofrost SF is for VW/Audi cars.

Jaguar filled with ORANGE Extended Life coolant (basically DEXCOOL)

Red face Thanks

Thank you. I should have noticed the label on the radiator.

Default coolant fill level

Can you tell me just how high should I top up the coolant reservoir? I have never been clear.

How often should it be topped up? Is there normal evaporation?

Thanks again.

Look at the top tank and see that it has a cold fill line. I sometimes need to shine a flash light into the neck of the tank so I can see the writing on it.
If no leaks you should not need to top it up. Yes after many months there will be some evaporation so do check the coolant level regularly.

When I fill the reservoir, I fill it to the top and the excess will fill the atmospheric catchment tank with the overflow tube.
You cannot overfill the reservoir as the system will self regulate.

I've done the same as Motorcarman with every watercooled vehicle I've ever had. Then after the first trip or two, I check the level & know how high it is when full. I've found some vehicles might sight a touch above or below the line, I assume slight variations in cap pressure or similar causing the differences.
