Default Replacing Coolant

I have a 1995 6.0. Is it recommended or safe to use a cleaning flush prior to filling with new coolant? I used a flush on my 4.0 and afterward flushed several times with clean water before adding new coolant, but understand that it is difficult to get all of the old coolant or waterflush out of the V12 so looking for recommendations. I've read the sticky and have tested my new thermostats but didn't see much information on flushing the system.

Not a fan of flushes.

BUT

With the different spec of coolants these days, stupid really, mixing them :can?: lead to a gooey mess in the system.

I have only ever used Demin water as a "flush", coz that will mix with whatever coolant you use.

YES it takes time, hence my "fill the beer fridge" comment.
