Default Coolant Temperature Alarm

Hello.

I am looking for a way to monitor my coolant temperature and have an audible alarm if the engine was to overheat.

I've looked at:

Engine Guard

Engine Watchdog

ScanGuage

Have any of you used one of these?

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

If I could find a place to mount standard gauges, I'd run a water temp, oil pressure, and fuel pressure gauge.

I cannot think of a location to place traditional gauges other than the A-Pillar, and I don't want to do that.

I could mount any of those three systems on my Kuda console mount.

Thank you for your help.

Stewart

I run the Torque Pro app w/ a bluetooth OBD dongle & you can set an audible alarm as it real time monitors as well.

I have the Ultra-Guage blue. It monitors a couple dozen parameters and I can use my phone as the display. I have an alarm set for coolant temperature. I could set an alarm for any parameter but coolant temperature is the only one I feel is necessary.

Looks like they are having a little sale, too.

Also, my RealGauge includes an audible alarm for oil pressure as well as coolant. None of the OBDII devices can offer an oil pressure alarm because they do not monitor the low oil pressure switch.

There is less of a need -- one had to monitor the oil in some vehicles 50 years ago ... sort of.

The overheat problems with the X308 have to do with maintenance -- the early cars need the water pumps and thermostats replaced -- with a proper flush and proper coolant added. The non-SC cars need the Thermostat tower switched out .. after that it's maintenance.

The oil cooler hoses on the supercharged vehicles can and do fail, particularly near the crimp. I have been informed of some saves from the RealGauge alarm.

just plug one of ^^ this guy's kit's in, it re-calibrates your existing gauge, the simple install makes it a no brainer. And it works beautifully
