Default Damaged Rim - need help

Hello all,

I recently got new tires installed and the mechanics managed to bent the outer lip of my rim. I have the 18" Milan rims. Has anyone ever had similar damage repaired, or any advice on how I can get this lip to look as good as possible?

Thanks for your input,

To make it look as good as possible? Tell the shop that it's their fault, and their responsibility, and have them replace it on their dime. That's a crazy way to damage it too. I'm no expert in repair so maybe it's possible, but that's a pretty good section buggered up.

I agree, it is their fault. However, I haven't been able to find a replacement rim. So my other option is to have them pay for it to be repaired.

Don't know if the trim ring is removable on these wheels without splitting them - if it isn't, make sure the wheel goes to somewhere experienced with servicing the BBS 3 piece style wheels, and it will probably need a replacement trim ring, assuming the rim itself isn't damaged. The tire shop should pay for the repair and outsource it to said experienced wheel repair shop.

If you can not find a replacement trim ring, you can "high gloss polish" the outer rim area after removing your damaged trim ring (its only glued). In every case you (better the wheel repair shop) need to split the wheel to install a new trim ring (if available) or to polish the rim.

Here is a pictute of my 19" Montreal wheel from my XJR100 after removal of a damaged trim ring and polishing of the rim in this area.

trim ring can be replaced, not that hard but you do have to split the rim

We have better luck and appearance with removing the ring and polishing the the aluminum lip, hoenestly looks better imo and when they get curbed can easily be repaired again by sanding out the damage and plishing again

I agree with the sbwheels comment. Steve is a super nice guy. Super fast email responses. Highly recommend.
