Dash trim popped off
Being irresponsible to my rear tires this evening, went around a corner and floored the gas. Tire smoke and rapid acceleration was my reward, as expected...however the center dash panel popped off and it doesn't seem to want to stay put now. None of the posts are missing and they all have their metal clips...what on earth am i missing here? Should the clips be tight on their posts or kind of sticking out? Are they missing some little grippy teeth or something? I thought it was just a friction fit but since it wont stay put obviously im missing something here.
Put the metal clips in the plastic piece first. Then push the wood grain in place. I have found that if the plastic area, where the metal clips go, is cracked even a little, the wood grain will come off.
Same issue on a standard engine VDP. I suspect age, not horsepower. I used a couple bits of the 2-sided tape used for hanging trim on the exterior to provide additional strength to the mounting.
