I don't think they sell that it would have to be a custom job

What year is your car? I bought a fob from a 2001 X308 for my 2000 which operates on the same radio frequency, and the fob DIDN'T work. Not sure if this is relevent for you, but it was stated on this forum that a 2001+ X308 would work for a '98-2000.

I have never understood the point of these flip keys to be honest. I mean why must the car key be folded away when the rest of the keys on the keyring are exposed? We have a few VW company cars with flip keys and they pop open in your pocket anyway.

But on the subject of the getting one for the X308, I'm doubting they'd be compatible.

I think you will also have to change all the parts related to keys such as door locks, ignition key hole, trunk's key hole . I would like to have an upgraded system as yours too , but it's not worth the money

Well, the fob does not actually have to be on your keyring. It can be in your pocket for example. Having two methods into the car is helpful in preventing lockouts.

the remote touching the leg is a pain I agree, I usually just try to ignore it, but if I am going to be in the car for a while I break out the valet key by itself for the ignition

as far as custom fitting it, there would be a lot of highly advanced maneuvers required. the keys have a computer chip in them for security and anti-theft purposes. so you couldn't just cut up the key and solder/weld/glue it to the "switchblade key" mechanism. you might be able to get the key security chip out of the key and then put it inside of the switchblade box, I'm not sure.
and then the buttons in the remote are basically on a computer chip, and I would think that the switchblade key's computer chip has a relatively different dimension as far as fitting the computer chip in there.

Default Thank you for all your kind advice.

I think, I had to live with it then. May be someday, some guy will work it out and sell them.

I put a small circular patch of self adhering velcro on the back of the fob, a mate to it on the steering column - now when I drive in shorts, I stick the fob to the column - no more annoying brushing against my leg.

I tried syncing an 05 jaguar xjr key to my 98 xj8 using the usual method (except turning my 98 key in the door and pressing the 05's buttons). The 05 xjr will actually lose sync with the FOB when I do this with the 98 xj8. Sorry, it just doesn't work. I'm sure if you spent lots of money and got a few hardware and software programmers, you might be able to do this. But doing it the "easy way" isn't going to happen.
