Default Do you have white Leather and a Black Dashboard?

Hello there

Today i was wondering how many cars are out there with the same trim level as mine...

So i wrote the Jaguar Heritage Service

Answer:
Unfortunately, we are unable to narrow numbers down by colour/trim but the total numbers produced are:

Worldwide for 1998 to 2002 model years: 15303

Switzerland for 1998 to 2002 model years: 490.

Do you know another way to find out how many cars there are same as mine?

Is it just a feeling or are those colour combinations rare?

Black exterior / White interior with black dashboard

I look forward to see what the rarest interior actually is!

Almost all the XJR's came with two-tone dash. Black interior was black on both top and bottom, the others were usually black top and whatever other interior color (beige, white, etc) on bottom.

That's easy, the XJR100 black on black with red stitching and grey stained birds eye maple veneer.
Then there's the Daimler Super V8 with complete Connolly trim, your best contacting forum member luc as he took Jaguar to task over brochure v supplied cars.

The black top dash was a signature on the R's/Sport as mentioned above.

Thank you for your answers.

I dont count the XJR 100 (), as a "normal" XJR.

Here in Switzerland, there are the following interiors for sale at the moment:

Not all of them have the black dashboard?
And not all of them have the same kind of wood.
If there are 3 types of leather and 3 types of wood, then there are 9 possible combinations.
So the frequentness varies depending on the choosen combination.

How is it possible that there are no records about the trims used?
I guess they didnt stock all of them...

Maybe its just a silly thing to think about, but i am restoring a inherited XJR and it was hard to find certain pieces...

Only 2 type of leather "regular" Connolly and Autolux
The other trim was not leather but vinyl ( Ambla in Jaguar speak)

You might be onto something there...

You might find this useful though. It's the Brochures section on Jag-Lovers. Somewhere in there you should find more information about the different trim options and colours available.
Jag-lovers brochures - XJ Index
the XJ Series 2001 Model Year in particular

Personally, I couldn't care less about the 'rarest' combo. What I'd care about it getting the colour combo I want. Easy when you're ordering new from the dealer, but a lot harder with second hand cars!
This is one of the reasons I replaced my original Oatmeal interior with Charcoal

Of course, you are right! Why bother if you are happy with your interior?

But that is not the point for me.

You think Jaguar really cant narrow down there numbers or they dont want to influence the market for future oldtimers?

I mean there must be records, a company cant run without knowing what parts to order, build, put together and sell.

I'm confident they have full records somewhere. The question is, why would they care?

They're required to have VIN records for recalls etc, but colour has nothing to do with that. Interior, or exterior. They're also far more interested in building new cars than looking up old ones, especially when paint and trim options can change year by year, country by country.
The main point though is that your interior was a standard option. It may not have been the most popular option, but it's certainly not rare.
