2001 XJ8 drivers door check is missing a bracket bolt from the A pillar side. Problem is the nut welded to the A pillar is gone also. Is there a fix for this? Time-sert, or Nut-sert?

 

Do a Google search for Jaguar X308 door check: you will find many threads and options/choices on repairing this common problem. Various threads will also point you to repair parts (I bought mine from the Jaguar dealer in Las Vegas and it took three days to get the repair part). One part is a new check to fix the broken bracket, the other is a backing plate that fixes the torn metal in the door. Others have used large washers for another common break.

 

Thanks, Jhartz, but that isn't quite the issue. My problem is on the other end of the check strap on the body not the door. I have seen the many threads concerning where the door metal is torn but that solution doesn't fit my problem.
