p1384
2001 XJ8. I recently replaced the timing chains and tensioners due to Bank 1 primary chain braking because of faulty tensioner. Also removed lower oil pan and cleaned oil strainer tube. And replaced both VVT solenoids, but keep getting a p1384 DTC. Please HELP>>>>
Does it make a tapping noise while running? If so, it could be a restricted oil port or weak oil pump, perhaps you missed a piece blocking the pickup? If its not making noise, it could be a bad connector on the solenoid A circuit.
Engine sounds normal at idle, no tapping or ticking! However, when applying the accelerator pedal, a slight ticking noise is heard. I also forgot to mention that I replaced all timing components and seals except the VVT carrier seals and checked continuity from both VVT solenoid connectors back to the ECM connector pins. My multi-meter beeps on all 4 wires, but I didn't have the resistance specs to verify if proper ohms were coming through. As of now I'm using 6 qts. of 5w-30 oil and 1 qt. of ATF. Any suggestions would help. Thanks!!!!
That ticking makes me think its a partially blocked oil port. Check this thread out, it doesn't say a lot more than I have, but its worth the read... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ng-p1384-9146/
Here's another that works the connector angle... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...perated-68222/
