Double engagement in reverse

Double engagement in reverse
any thoughts on the transmission doing a double engagement in reverse.. As in put it in reverse.. Engage.. Wait a second and boom a second thunk.. If I don't wait for that second thunk it won't move until that second thunk.. Only in reverse and only when hot.. First reverse of the day normal... Guessing needs a new transmission...01 xj8

It may be low on fluid. If you haven't replaced the filter and changed the fluid a couple of times, do so. With the pan off it only takes about one hour to replace the main pressure valve with the ZF upgrade or the trans go and inspect the valve body for damage.
