The car suddenly developed the above.

Selecting any of the forward gears, even with manual selected, causes the car to jolt and the engine to stall.

The car can be driven in reverse.

I have already looked round this site and google and have found a few cases of similar problems, but never quite the same.

Any help is much appreciated, I am currently considering either faulty shifter mechanism (cables?) or internal valve springs in the box.

If one assumes the emergency brake is off; faultytransmission.

 

I was hoping to be more specific and actually diagnose the transmission fault.

 

I doubt it's faulty trans. shifter linkage. An internal problem more likely exists. Codes? Others likely to chime in but a trans. inspection/repair is likely the next course of action. Don't feel lonely, my 03 STR is going in for a trans. repair next week.
