Default Drain tubes under the front wings

I was doing some repairs today and noticed a drain tube under each wing that protrudes through the plastic wheel arch liner...however, I also spotted another short - looks red in colour - drain? on each side under the wings that seems to dump water into the space between the inner and outer wings. No wonder the outer wings are rusting through in the usual places (rear of front arches)...Anyone know why Jaguar decided to vent these drains into the wings and not take them outside like the other two drains under the wings? I am thinking that when I replace the wings eventually, I'll fit some hose the take the water outside the liner. Thanks, Allan

Default Drain tubes.

Hi Allan,
I believe the tubes you mention are used if a sun roof is fitted, when they presumably would have tubing to take them outside the wheel arch liner. On mine, which does not have a sun roof, the ends had plastic bungs fitted. There should not be any water coming out of the tubes if there is no sun roof. HTH

Thank you v8mad, I made an assumption (***/u/me etc.) - put 2 and 2 together and got 5...I have not seen water coming out of these tubes....just assumed, from the 'evidence'.. Thanks so much for putting me straight on this. Allan

I have a sun roof and my car has the exact same set up you described, one tube outside the wheel arch liner and the other ending inside the liner.

I had to remove the left side liner to wire my side marker lamps so I extended the tube so it drains outside of the liner.
