Default electrical connector source

what a night.....

So i was waiting on rotors that will not be here until tomorrow.
I decided to see if i could fix the steering column/ drivers side switchpack electrical short...

Well, i found it....

the wire from fuse 8 in the rear drivers side kick plate fuse box was totally melted....

i had to remove the front seat, rear seat, pull back the rear carpet.

i had to unwrap the HUGE bundle that ran from the drivers side to the passengers side... oh my god that tape is sticky....

ended up spending all afternoon and evening tracking the wire to the drivers seat.... melted the whole way.

al the other associated wires were in good shape.

so my question is...i cannot get the wires to release from the 070 multiconnector.

I know how to release wires, but i cannot find the latch in these.

so i am thinking just get new connectors, but from where?

anyone have a good source for these that i can procure quickly.

look on Mouser.com they are a huge electrical parts supply company, they sell every connector imaginable, BUT it takes some searching

thanks roger.

I found mouser yesterday.

If no locals have them i will order from them.

As many things as these are used on, (computers, ford autos, harley davidsons, etc..) i would think they are easier to find...

I recently upgraded my audio system to the Premium system & had to build a new wiring harness for the Power Amp using the 070 plugs. This is the place in the UK I bought them from:

www.simtekuk.co.uk

Don't know how quick they'd ship to the USA, but they've got the 070 plugs, sockets & pins.

thanks guys..

i also found simtec online.

I am in a bit of a hurry for overseas shipping, so i drove around today and looked for connectors.

Funny, but no one had any clue what i was talking about.

the connectors for others information are AMP/tyco multilock connectors. there are three sizes.. 025, 040, and 070...

all i really needed is the pins.

Harley davidson uses these, ford, and toyota, and many computer board builders... EXTREMELY common connector, but no one had any clue about what i was talking about..

the dealer even was clueless...

I finally went to a stereo shop and was able to get some connector pigtails from them.

they did not have the correct number of pins, but i just removed the pigtail wire/pin, and inserted it into the old connector body i had..

Violla... worked like a charm,

I am using ratcheting crimpers, and marine grade heat shrink connectors. should be better than new.

the audio connectors worked like a champ..

pulled the pins out of the old ones and put into the new..

The color was different on the pigtail.. same base color, but different tracer... but used that color all the way back to the fuse box,,, also made a tag with the change and taped to bundle at each connection point.

I know it is a little late for the OP, but here is the pin release tool for the AMP Multilock connectors:

Snap-On TT600-3

Search the Internet for illustrations on how to use it.
