Unhappy Electrical/Steering wheel problems

My 2000 XJ8 steering wheel moves or doesn't move(Only The Shadow knows) and is not responsive to the control button. Memory settings are sporadic. There is a clicking from the right side of the dash.
Suspect the Body Control Module may be the culprit. How do I get to it? Just remove the Glove box or airbag or what?
Thanks
Olen

The steering column tilt/reach operation is a reoccurring problem associated with the tilt/reach potentiometers and drive cables. Either the lubrication of the column thickens over the years and stops the motion or the pots develop a dead spot, or the pots do not indicate the end of travel and cause the motors to strip out the flex cable(s).

The tilt motor/pot/cable is easy to get to, the reach motor/pot/cable less so. Do a search on 'tilt' and/or 'reach' and you will find several discussions on the subject.

Probably not associated with the BCM.

Smile thanks

Thanks, new info.
I'll check within my ability. I got and promptly lost a pot for the function. Will still try to find one.

Thanks again
Olen
