Default Emblem adhesive

My trunk "Jaguar" emblem was starting to come off, luckily I caught it in time before it was lost. The emblem's in great shape, just the adhesive failed and it looks like the chrome underneath began to bubble leading to the failure. I'm thinking to clean off the flaking crap with a wire wheel or similar, and just reapply the badge.

What's the best adhesive to use for these badges? I've seen the foam trim tape, but it seems like it's too thick for this use, the badge would stick out past the chrome surround.

3M makes a body trim adhesive that I’ve used with good results.

Nilanium, it’s not just the badge itself that goes south, it’s also the whole chrome back adhesive that lets loose as well.

I’m in the process of stripping off the emblems and the chrome backing plate from both of my trunk badges. Nows a good time to do them both throughly and secure (no pun intended) their future. To get the badges off, carefully use a heat gun to pry them away from the car. I haven’t picked out an adhesive yet, but be assured it’ll be a 3m product as stated by the previous poster. My SV8 badge is in need of attention and that’s why I acquired this VPS badge just in case something happened to the SV8 one.

I wonder if gorilla snot would work for this application??
