Engine Check Light + Washer Pump

Hi All,
The windscreen washer pump on my XJ8 has been intermittently working recently and now has gone completely.
The Engine Check light now remains on after starting up. Is this because the washer pump is shot or is there something else thatcould bewrong.
Many thanks.

Greetings,
Two separate faults, the check engine light being priority#1. You'll need to have the Diagnostic Trouble Codes identified with a scanner to narrow down the cause of the warning.
If our car is early enough, the map for the fuseboxes is on the cover for the one in the trunk. I don't recall which fuse is for the washer pump, it's probably in the right front forward fusebox.
More likely the washer pump has failed, it happens. Access to test for power is by removing right front wheelarch liner.
