Engine light yellow

2000 XJ8 picture of engine on dash it lit up yellow....has been this way for a while. Can the car be checked for codes without special tools ? Any Ideas. Car has 54k

Are you in the US?..if yes, you can take it to an AutoZone and they will scan it for free..

Thanks Dennis, yes I am in the USA and have an autozone nearby.
