Recall #303-S514 dealt with throttle body recall for this exact issue; if not already done, will be done by Jag dealer free of charge - have a dealer check your VIN in their computer to verify the recall status.

THE MOSTY COMMON ESPECIALLY IF YOU TOOK YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND IT DIED, IS A PLUGGED PART LOAD BREATHER( PLASTIC HOSE CONNETING TO TOP FRONT OF DRIVERS CAM COVER, DISC. LINE AND USING A SMALL 1/16" DRILL BIT BY HAND PUSH THROUGH AND UNPLUG. OIL DEPOSITS BUILD UP AND PLUG THE OPENING CAUSING STALLING, I CLEAN THIS, AND THROTTLE BODY ON AN INJECTION SYSTEM FLUSH OR AS NEEDED.

Driving my 1998 xj8 on the freeway all of a sudden I get no responce from the accellerator the engine is still running at this time. Then 2weeks later it happened again but this time the engine shots down. I pulled to the side, shut it off and restarted it without a problem. HELP!!

That sounds like a throttle position switch fault, which means a new throttle body. You should have fault codes stored as a result of this event, so you need a scanner to read them. There was a recall involving replacement/ reprogramming of throttle bodies that your car was eligible for: there should be a white sticker with that information on the top radiator mounting panel under the hood which was applied after this recall work had been performed.. If not, consult your dealer to see if your car has any outstanding recalls.

Thank You! I did noy see the white sticker over the radiator plate. How can I tell if there is any recall for my car other than going to a dealer? Can anyone in here help me?

Brutal is correct as always. I just cleaned the throttle body and got my fixed, but the addtional steps are good preventive maintenance.
