Default Fitting reversing sensors!

Hi all. My wife has complained that when she is reversing the car she can't see the back end. I tried asking her not to drive it... didn't work!

So I have purchased a kit to fit sensors on the rear bumper, it is a wireless kit and can be set to only activate when reverse gear is selected. However, this means I have to wire the device into the correct circuit.

Does anyone know the best place to find the necessary wires, what color they are, and how to connect into them? Has anyone done this before and could help? I tried searching but, maybe I typed the wrong questions as what I found didn't really help?

Thanks in advance for all help :-)

For the ZF transmission on the non supercharged engine you would have to devise a not on these positions switch on with a dampener so it wouldn't turn on as you move through the positions

Or a very low power signal from the illumination LED with a use of a darlington switch to get useful power to switch on you device .

Notice a ground providing enable vs. a power providing enable for your device .

Most retro fit kits use the reverse light power supply. It is the only thing carrying the amps needed when the Gear shift lever is put into reverse. It is convenient also since everything can stay in the boot.

Thanks guys, will check out the fitting instructions, might give me the right way to do it. It is most helpful to know which wires are which, and as avern1 put it, everything stays in the boot.

Yellow wire would be the enabling power to switch on the device .

Thanks Lady Penelope, you must be a total wiz with the electronics of these cars, I've noticed you always have the right answers.

Not sure if I also thanked you for the help on the Fuel Pump problem I recently had, your help on the wiring and relays for that problem were spot on too
