Why is it so hard to locate a gas cap for these cars? There seem to be quite a few used ones available on auction sites, but a new one not "confirmed" to fit a 2003 XJ is $85 USD + tax and shipping. For a gas cap.
Has anyone had any luck or have any leads on where a new one of these could be found, or am I out $90+ to get a gas cap?
AFAICT, you want the later, cheaper, "Nipple Style Gas Cap" (NNG5942BA, I think) vice the earlier, pricier magnetic one.

Yes, what I have is the "nipple" cap. I'd be content with any cap that worked. I'm shocked that there are no aftermarket options for these. Nobody is making parts like this in house, so I'd assume Stant or Gates or MotoRad makes them with a Jaguar emblem molded into the plastic. I don't think the aftermarket market would be huge, but there has to be some interest in aftermarket caps. Also, these can't be the only vehicles that take this style of cap.
