I'd like to find one of the gold emblems for the center of the steering wheel. It seems like in 1998 (?) they had a metal (?) emblem. My 2001 VPD has the emblem embossed in the center of the steering wheel. That gold one sure looks nicer!

Has anyone done this? Did it look ok, or "glued on?" I don't know if on the 1998's the emblem was somehow "sunken" into the steering wheel or just resting on top of it.

Here's what I was referring to.

 

recessed, you'd need the airbag module with one of these on. Big money, and I doubt you'd find one, as all new supplied are embossed.

 

My 99 VDP has this emblem but I've noticed that not all 99's do so it must have been a mid year change.

 

The emblem in which you are refering to is a mid yr change from 99, but if you are patient keep a close eye on ebay as you can come across great deals on those air bag units, just last week ther were quite a bit on there ranging from $50-150 easily...

Not that I want to pour water on your fire but I have noticed with a lot of those emblems that the gold colour seems to wear off them. I think they would have looked good in Chrome also But that is just my personal preference as I'm not a fan of gold.
