Hello I am new to this site, I have a 53 XJ8 4.2SE when the vehicle has been run at normal road speeds 30mph -40mphfor around 30-40 min then put under slight accelloration to 40- 50mph a squeel can be heard for a second, then dissapears, this noise has now increased to squeeling twice it sounds like a belt is slipping.
Jaguar informed me that when the gear oil gets hot and the car is put under accelloration it will squeel???
Does anyone have any surgestions??

Your actual model description is a little concerning, just what model is your car. I am taking it to bethe V8 with the 5 or 6 speed, sealed for life transmission, I strongly suggest a fluid/filter change. The trans might be sealed for life, but it still has oil inside, and oil needs changing.

My BMW V8had exactly the same symptoms, and BMW said the same, yeh right, so I changed the filter/oil myself, and now it is fine, smoother, quiet etc etc.
