Green shock absorbers = sports suspension?
Hey guys,
sorting the last few bits on my front suspension, I noticed I had the green shock absorbers. The rear as well.
Now, looking through the parts catalogues, I didn't see any determination, if green was sports suspension or standard. On the other hand, going through SNG, the green ones are shown in combination with the sports numbers, where as otherwise black ones are shown...
Is that normal?
Also, teh rear shocks were available as a "load leveling" version. Were ALL X308s delivered with that kind of setting (apart from the CATS optioned ones...)?
Cheers

Ah, thought there was a load leveling setup... Anyhow, green is sports... So would that include a lower rideheight?

I doubt that. Mine is an Executive and they were kind of like an XJR with the smallest engine or with a less powerful engine. My interior only lacks the XJR badges. And going by the rubber condition, they are 20 years old, like the car itself

Yeah, basically, just that the Sport wasn't available then and the 'Sport' was the Executive - at least here
Iirc the Sport was introduced around 2000 to the German market. Before that you had the XJ8 (entry), XJ Executive (sport/soft R), Sovereign (luxury). Of course the Daimler V8 and Super V8 as well as the XJR. But yeah, you could say it is a sport...

The only time the shocks should affect ride height would be if they're sticking. Some people have said their ride height changed after replacing worn shocks. With the geometry of the suspension, and assuming good shocks, the ride height is controlled by the springs and whatever spacers go along with them.

Stock Bilstein sport shocks in the US and most other markets were green as I recall, but I think some sport shocks in Germany were yellow.
And if you get aftermarket Bilstein versus OEM, the colors are different. I think the yellow are "comfort" and gray are "sport/HD".
So I'd go by spec and part number, not color.
