Happy new XJ8 owner with a question
Hello everyone. I'm a proud owner of a 1999 gold XJ8 L. Its a gorgeous car in beautiful shape and my wife and I could not resist. We bought it about 3 months ago and I have been visiting this forum for answers ever since.
I have found a lot of answers already and have been able to fix a throttle body sensor issue which dropped us into "limp home mode", repair the trunk light that would not go on and installed heated seats with help from all the great posts, so thank you very much!
I do have a question regarding the newly installed seat heaters. I purchased the switches, relays and seat heater mats from eBay. I installed the switches and relays and had an upholsterer put in the seat heaters. It was relatively easy since the upholsterer did the hard work. The seats heat up nicely.
Now, here's my question. The upholsterer said that the seat heaters were not for this car. He said that the bottom seat heaters did not have holes in the correct locations to allow him to clamp the front of the seat covers down. So he installed the covers anyway but don't look quite right. The eBay seller indicated that the mats would fit any XJ from 1997 to 2003. The mats were marked out of a 2002 Vanden Pas. Does anyone know if the seat bottoms changed during these years? How can I find the correct ones? Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. I don't have a clue where heated seats are concerned, but would like to invite you to the new member area to introduce yourself when you have time:

I took a couple of photos of the drivers and passenger seat bottoms. As you can see, the front "piping" isn't cinched down because the upholsterer didn't want to cut into the seat heater and break the elements. So I guess the question is do all of the seat bottoms have the same pattern? If so, has anyone installed the seat heaters and know how to install the cover so you can draw it down tight?

I haven't had my seat covers off, yet anyway, but here is a good thread -
