Default Heated windscreen uneven defrost

Hi folks,
Not so long ago I became an owner of x308 3.2 Sport and I'm slowly sorting all the smaller issues. One of them is heated windscreen which is working only in few spots. Take a look at the atached photo. Is there anything I can do to fix it apart from buying a new windscreen?

I will appreciate any sugestions. Thank you

As I understand it, the heated screen is wired in two sections. There's a 30amp fuse & relay for each side of the car, if the problem is more granular than that it'll be the screen.

Verdigris is a problem - the screen's heating element is attached at the corner base with the 2 +/- wires, these can become oxidized green partially functioning connections, a quick tidy with scotty pads and WD40 or a grease can generally get them back, or as Hooli suggests a new used screen from a breakers.

I didn't know you could see those connections Sean, how do you get too them? I'd imagined they were under the screen seal & hidden away.

My heated screen doesn't work & I've proved it's got power to the relays so had assumed it was the screen itself. But those sound worth a check.

The 2 relays can be swapped and see if the issue goes to the other windshield half

A relay can be pitting ( current limited ) on the internal to the relay power contacts

Thank you guys for your suggestions and shared knowledge. I think both relays are working fine and connections in the corners must be ok as well because there are heated spots on both sides of the windscreen. I'm afraid I'll have to replace my windscreen at some point.

Odd that you would have this expensive option real gold filmed windshield on your sport model ( I'm not sure of the models in the UK )

You can always in the worst case ( if even have to ) go with the non gold filmed windshield ( certainly cheaper ) and you will still have the blowing heated air defrost

On a salvage car with not gold windshield the 2 relays will be missing , and to safe a non gold windsheild wires at the windshield car side terminal wires just remove your relays

Heated spots can still be a sign of loose / corroded windshield terminal post where just enough current passes to heat those spots

There should be a swapping option somewhere on the car to put a different relay in a position

Or you can jumper with a medium gauge wire with blade type connectors for better current between socket 3 and 5 ( wire to the windshield ) These will be the 2 larger slots of the 4 , a common auto parts store can make a jumper for you just take a relay inside for blade connector size

You can also clean the car frame windshield ground point ( s )

There is not many heating wires in the windscreen. When few are burnt up it leaves big gaps. My two year old heatet windscreen already has broken wires in it. I've used the heating feature something like four times.
