Default Help! Every warning light on!!

Dear all
Just got up and drove my Daimler about 2 miles and at first I got flickering and pulsing dash and interior lights, then I got 'Traction contol warning' and 'stability control warning'....then I got 'gearbox fault' ......then I got 'reduced performance warning'....
Whats going on??

Did an 80 mile journey the day before, no problem.
I have checked the battery and shows 12.66V and did a battery disconnect for about 30 mins. All still there after restart.

Ideas please!

Did you check the battery power while it was running? Sounds like an alternator might be going bad.

+1 for A2B's suggestion, get the battery checked and be sure to check your battery terminal connections to include if there is any corrosion, then replace the wire.

Hi sybillshep,

The flickering dash and interior lights definitely sound like you have an electrical fault of some kind. If it were not for that symptom, I would suggest a problem with an ABS wheel sensor or its wiring harness or a problem with the ABS module, since problems with the ABS system will disable traction control and stability control. If the problem is with the right rear wheel speed sensor, the speedometer will cease to function and there will be no speed signal, which the engine control module and transmission control module are dependent on to coordinate smooth gearshifts, leading to the gearbox fault.

I would recommend that as soon as possible you have the car scanned by a system capable of reading not only the generic powertrain (P) diagnostic fault codes (DTCs), but also the proprietary Jaguar codes, since many electrical faults trigger network (U-prefix) codes, and many ABS faults trigger chassis (C) codes that can only be read by dealer-level diagnostic systems and certain high-end third-party systems.

Please keep us informed.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks all for the replies.
Firstly, the power across the battery terminals while the engine running is between 13.4 and 14.5, so that seems to be ok. Checking earth connections can be challenging but, all that I can get to seem to be ok with very little or no rust and all seems to be secure.
Spoke with an indy Jag garage today and he said more than likely a failing alternator but, he said, as Don B says, that the ABS sensors have a habit of throwing up faults. He is going to check my alternator and at the same time is going to check the codes for me.
Ill keep all informed
Nice one! from a wet England....No change there then...

Hi all,
Problem solved. The alternator was not regulating the power supply properly and was over charging. So at idle all is ok with a slightly flikering dash. When above 1800 revs all lights and electics would fail. It was charging at over 20V. For some reason not known, no fuses blew. And after the new alternator was installed all codes were able to be cleared. The over charging did cause damage to the battery, so I will have to replace. Pick up tomorrow. Happy Days!!
