Default How many of you folks have installed the blue top transmission solenoids?

Been researching changing my trans fluid and came across all this info on replacing the brown tops with Maybach blue tops. Id really love to hear from anyone that has done this mod on an XJR as to how much you like it and if its worth it. To get a pair of the cheap, its close to $400, but Im wondering if its a great upgrade or not? As it is my trans shifts fine, but its due for maintenance. While doing the fluid, it seems like it would be a good idea to also have new solenoids on hand to replace the brown tops with blue tops. Seems they give you much faster, firmer shifts and much faster up and downshifting. Any personal experience with this mod? It seems to me if I did this mod and the Mina pulley upgrade, it should really wake my car up quite a bit

I was thinking to do that when I had the transmission issue on my XJR. but I opted out before a bit too expensive on the part itself and labor intensive

Well we'd need a pair of them, but they can be sourced for $188 each and the labor actually seems really simple, especially if someone had a lift. I plan to change my trans fluid soon, Im thinking Ill wait until I can knock out both jobs in one shot. Seems like itd be a hell of an upgrade if it was close to $450 all in

Youre saying youve not seen that mod on an XJR yet? I got the whole idea of doing it from this forum, yet it seems no one has actually done it. Weird

Red face Bluetops. x308 xjr

Bluetops??

I have them and yes they shift firm and fast.
In the lower gears I would call it somewhat harsh.
So pick your poison a bit to harsh or a bit to soft with stock ones if you are in a hurry.
Answer might be to drill a bit bigger hole in the tip of the brown ones but not as big as on the blue ones.
The hole diameter seems to be the only difference.

I have had them in my car for a few years now. They shift is much more positive, less of a delay. I also have the Racing Green Speedshift as well.Racing Green Jaguar. - XK 1996-2006, SpeedShift sequential gearchange 4.0

How did you get the speedshift from Racing Green Cars installed?

When I orderd my LSD from them I pleaded with Martin to send me that aswell.

He insisted it will only be installed onsite in England.
No do it your self instructions.
I am not to happy with the Jshift, perhaps a MB side to side shifter can be installed?

I purchased it quite a few years ago. My contact was Keith in the Performance Division. We had growing pains & I had to send the box back at least once, but it was worth it. I think they found a US car was somehow different to a UK spec car. The person who built the system is an engineer to McLaren.

Thank you very much the response.

I will live with my J shift for ever after or till somebody builds a bridge across the Atlantic.

I am aware there is supposed to be one more E in Baghera but my government
will not allow me to spell it correctly on the license plate so...
