Default How to remove passenger/right side airbag?

Bought my mother a 2000 xj8, and am upgrading the burl (hers was not so pretty)

Got the airbag cover off easily, removed the 2 10mm bolts facing me, but am not able to remove the airbag...

How??

There is a long metal bar that can be slid out to release the straps, which you would then have to line up with everything on the new wood panel and slide it back in place. That sounds easy, but I ultimately had to remove the airbag in order to have enough access to change out the wood.

The airbag has bolts underneath as well. You have to remove the glove box assembly to access them. Be gentle with the electrical connections as well...

I did a search and I think you asked the same question back in 2013. haha

Yes, thank you VERY much for that tip!

I have "half-heimerz" as in I'm half way to alzheimer's. I completely forgot about the last time I asked what the answers were.
