Default I gave away my XJR

Hi guys & gals,
well the last time I posted the XJR had overheated and I think the head gasket was leaking but on the drivers side this time.
I parked it and put a cover on it and thought I don't want to go through that again.
About 3 weeks ago a friend expressed an interest in it and asked if I would sell it.
I thought long and hard and had a long conversation explaining what it was probably going to take to fix her again.
I could tell he was in love with the idea and we came to an agreement.
He is going to work on it with his 10 year old son and his brother who is a mechanic.
I gave him the car with the promise he would fix her, paint her and keep her.
So today I bid farewell to FST PAWS and look forward to seeing her running at some time in the future.
I bought the wife a new Ford Edge Limited to replace the XJR, and I will probably buy something stupid like a Ford Focus ST for fun.
I want an XKR coupe or convertible next, 2006 or newer and it will be a weekend car just for fun, the XJR was my daily driver for almost 14 years
Please look out for XJRGreg I signed him up today and hopefully he will be here soon asking the same questions everyone else asked.

Thanks for all the help and I will still stay active on the forum....

Sorry Roger,.....I know what you felt for that cat. I fully understand your thinking, and I TOTALLY misunderstood your posts from fixing it the first time around. I was under impression you are working on BOTH sides at the same time. Once the one bank starts leaking, it's USUALLY very short before the other one goes.

The best way is to pull the motor, put it on the stand, and do everything at the same time (gaskets, valves, timing gear,.....the whole top end). The only remedy after even a slight overheat, is to retorque the heads IMMEDIATELY. But I'm sure you know that.

Let's hope you find another one, your FST PAWS has a good home, and you keep posting. I enjoyed your posts in the past.

Good luck.

Daniel, I did do both sides, and as I would have to pull the cams to re-torque the heads
i just decided I did not want to continue, I'm super busy with my business and don't have the time to put into it. So that made the decision to pass the car onto someone who did have the time, an easy decision.

Roger,
Gave away your XJR and signed up a new member - what a man.
Enjoy the search for an XKR. I hope you're not without a Jaguar for too long.

Graham

You did both sides, and it started AGAIN? How?

Did you retorque the heads after the "set in" ?

Always sad to see one go. I just sold my 84 Oldsmobile 98 and I about cried. It was a family car from new that my grandparents owned. I drive it to college then restores it and kept it under a shed for 10 years. I just never got the chance to drive it and the new owner will love her like I did.
