Default Inboard brake lights inop

First, Im an electrical weenie. Not my strong point. That being said, the "check rear lights" message is on when I apply brakes. All the bulbs were replaced. I checked the #1 10A fuse, looked okay, replaced it anyhow. The inboard brakes lights do not come on when the pedal is depressed. All of the other lights work. I activated the security system, it works, but inboard lights do not flash. I read some posts here, but, Im confused. Where do I start?

Are they LED bulbs? If so, replace them with standard incandescent bulbs and everything will likely work fine. LED's draw less current, and it causes the computer to freak out on these cars, at least from my personal experience. That's a technical term, by the way.

The INBOARD lights should be REAR FOG LAMPS.

The brake lights are controlled by the SLCM.

I got that figured out. Thank you. I wondered about the second button. Doh!

While designed to make you more visible to drivers approaching from the rear in poor weather, they can also be used to flash at drivers too close on your bumper. They are operative only when the headlights are on. I believe they are a bit brighter than the rear running lights. Either way, you can flick the switch without abruptly changing your speed, and hopefully send a message to get a tailgater to back off a bit. It has worked for me from time to time.
