inner tie rod 1998 xj8?

I have a person i know that needs an inner tie rod replaced on his 1998 xj8, ive read some places that you cant replace the inner tie rod, you have to replace the the whole rack, i was wondering if this was true?

Yes, you can replace just the inner tie rod, but it can be a little difficult if you don't have the proper tools. You should also check to see if there are any other worn parts because they should be changed at the same time since you will be needing an alignment after replacement of the Tie rod.
