Internal Door Handle Flush Issue
Hi guys,
Does anyone know exactly what happens when the interior door handle in not flushed with the bezel (that faces you inside the car), but rather sunken in?
Is there some sort of a rubber stopper that gets worn out, or is it purely an adjustment issue?
Thank you very much,
Mike

PS. I have been looking around the internet and it appears that there is a small flat plastic clip that is also a part of the internal door handle. If that falls off, or is missing, it might create this issue. Not sure if I'm right.

Most likely an adjustment issue. I had to replace mine last year, and if I remember correctly there's a clip that's part of the plastic housing that slides into the door frame. It then slides around so that you can get it lined up with the door panel. You'll have to remove the wood trim to get in there and take a look at what's going on. Pretty simple to do, but use a plastic tool, not a screw driver, to pry on it so you don't chip the clear coat. Pry at the rear of the panel until the clips release, then it slides rear-ward to remove.
I've attached the page from the workshop manual.

Here's a link to an older thread on how to remove all the door fixings. Good write up with pictures.

The handle mounts in a plastic hinge, the hinge mounts to the door via two plastic hook like projections. One of the hooks may be broken and / or the tang that the hinge pin mounts in. This happened to me.
As most jag owners know, the plastic gets brittle.

Thanks very much. I think the clip you mentioned is what I am looking at. I think it stops the handle at a certain point. I was previously trying to take off the veneers in the door and I heard something fall into the door itself. It was that clip we are referencing, lol.
